AmaZulu King Misuzulu Sinqobile Hlomesakhishlangu kaZwelithini was officially introduced to the ancestors and his people during his Ukungena esibayeni (entering the kraal) ceremony, known traditionally as Ukucocwa KweSilo.

Thousands of people graced the historic occasion at the Khangelamankengne Royal Palace in KwaNongoma.

The ceremony marked the official crowning of King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini as the reigning monarch of the Zulu nation following the passing of his father King Goodwill Zwelithini ka Bhekuzulu on 12 March 2021.

His ascension to the throne was not without drama, with two of his siblings backed by some senior members of the royal family challenging his legitimacy to the crown. A last minute attempt to stop the ukucocwa kweSilo ceremony was thrown out of court on the day of the actual day of the event.
