Border Management Authority beefs up deployment at Beit Bridge

The Border Management Authority commissioner Dr Michael Masiapato says they've beefed up deployment at the Beitbridge border as there have been more attempts by travelers to enter South Africa illegally - Newzroom Africa has reported. The authority which was established in April 2013 is responsible for the execution of frontline border law enforcement functions which include immigration and access control, biosecurity, food safety and land border infrastructure development and maintenance. Masiapato says the BMA has set up roadblocks on the road leading into SA from Zimbabwe in order to conduct further checks on legitimate documentation. He said they have deployed border guards and SAPS officers at the border to ensure that only those with proper documentation are allowed into the processing area. Photo: BMA
