On a sweltering, Friday, January 17, 2025, Colonel Samuel Senamela wrapped up his tenure as officer commanding (SACSA) after being elevated to the substantive rank level of Brigadier-General which comes with new roles and new responsibilities.
Brigadier-General Senamela, who possesses undeterred resilience, and vast experience in the military ecosystem will be enhancing operational efficiency at the Command and Management Information Systems Division as Director Information Warfare. He has also delivered meaningful impact and contributions in his previous capacities as Director Information and technology, Director Cyber Command, Officer Commanding SA Communication Security Agency, Senior Staff Officer Information Systems, Officer Commanding North West Signal Unit, Second in Command Dequar Signal Unit, Combat Net Radio Section Commander and Signal Troop Commander.
In addition to his impressive accomplishments, he made a great trek to Comoros Island, which is conveniently located between Mozambique and Madagascar where he was entrusted with the monumental task of Liaison Officer.

Furthermore, he embarked on a notable expedition to Sudan, which is reverently known as “The Horn of Africa” where he was also entrusted with the responsibilities of being a liaison officer. This was followed by a stint at the conflict-ridden Democratic Republic of Congo as Chief J6 and acting Force Chief of Staff.
Brigadier General Senamela, who hails from the sprawling township of Soshanguve, which is tucked in the northern part of Pretoria’s greater appetite for being in the military and saw him joining Umkhonto We Sizwe, which was the Military wing of the African National Congress before integrating into the then South African Defence Force when it was undergoing a transformative shift to be the South African National Defence Force.
He has achieved massive success in various military courses which include inter alia JCSD, JCSD Distance, JCSD Residential, JCSD Practical, R8 Signal Unit Commanders, R6 Signal Sequence Commanders, R9 Basic Signal Training, Battalion Signal Troop Commander, Command and Control Digital Communications, Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegrated, Information Security Architecture, Advanced Military Law.
His appetite for knowledge also saw him enrolling for an Advanced Diploma in Project Management at Cranefield College which he completed in the 2013 calendar year.
Following the conferment of the rank, the Commander of the South African Landward Forces, Lieutenant General Lawrence Khulekani Mbatha congratulated the newly appointed Director Information Warfare and offered him warm wishes on his new and noble role. Brigadier General Senamela was accompanied by Chief of Command and Management Information Systems Division, Major General Mafi Mgobozi.
